From what I understand, it replaces the need for both lamps and a colorwheel, which reduces the overall sound the set makes and eliminates the need for lamp replacements as the TV ages.

Is this too good to be true? What are the downsides, if any?
Those are good to know, thanks! I’m looking specifically into LED ones though, so there will never be a lamp replacement required. All those bits of information are helpful still!

I have a big screen, and the replacement lamp costs well over 0. Every website I go to…is there a way around that? Self repair? could I take it somewhere to be repaired?

My HDTV lamp just died. I have a Toshiba 72HM196 72 and according to toshiba’s website the replacement lamp is at 218 (Y-196 Lamp). Im just wondering, do you all know of any other website that might have a cheaper price? Thanks!!!
