Tell Me About DLP LED Technology, as Used in Samsung's New HDTV Series.?

From what I understand, it replaces the need for both lamps and a colorwheel, which reduces the overall sound the set makes and eliminates the need for lamp replacements as the TV ages.

Is this too good to be true? What are the downsides, if any?
